n 1991, at just 9 years old, Carter met the man who would change his life: Birdman. The two were introduced through Birdman’s brother, Slim – lil wayne was a fan, endlessly calling the Cash Money offices.

The Cash Money Records co-founder became a form of mentor and father, filling the void left by the deаth of Wayne’s stepfather – both Wayne and Birdman referred to each other as father and son.
